Citing the FICCI report, Paruchuri said, “Counterfeiting is a global phenomenon. The estimated loss to the industry due to counterfeiting of products is Rs 73,000 crores.”

Pragati Authenticate, a range of anti-counterfeiting solutions, consists of both overt and covert measures.

One of the overt solutions is Holo Trance, which the company has deployed for Kamilari labels. “It consists of multiple generic holo-patterns. There is a provision to make bespoke patterns. The patterns are created using varnish and does not involve the use of any plastic film, thus being an eco-friendly solution,” said Paruchuri.

Besides this, Pragati offers Flip Text, Rayz Patterns, Fresnel Lenz effect, and Matt Logo pattern in the overt category.

“All these patterns are very difficult to reproduce. In case of Lenz effect, the visual impact is high as the holographic pattern is in perfect register with the artwork. This holographic pattern cannot be easily copied as printing it in register with the artwork is tough,” added Paruchuri.

In the covert type of solutions, the company has various offerings which use photochromatic inks, UV-visible inks, coin reactive inks and micro text.

“We recommend using a combination of both types of measures,” added Paruchuri.
