Pragati showcases 3D books and calendars at Print Fair

Navin Dhanani of Hyderabad-based Pragati Offset showcased the Pragati Calendar and the 3D books produced as a part of their show and tell presentation on innovations during the second day of print fair at max Mueller Bhavan Mumbai.

Speaking about the 3D books, Dhanani said that more than printing it is the photographic effects which make the 3D books. “When you see the book with the goggles provided with the books, you are able to see the images in a three-dimensional space,” said Dhanani.

Dhanani also showcased the samples of Pragati Calendars. “The calendar features various processes ranging from embossing, punching, micro-embossing, foiling etc,” said Dhanani.

Flyleaf: 300gsm art card with two blacks on conventional press. Hot foil stamp with gloss pale gold foil. Full duct matt UV on entire sheet. Die-cut and perforated.
 
Big Bang: Front sheet printed on 240gsm moondream with M, Y and cool grey 10C on UV press. Heat press with foiling block dates and earth details, embossed ‘Bang’, month names, Sundays. 3D embossed globe. Back sheet on 300gsm art card with high-gamut inks with gloss varnish. Offline full UV gloss coating.
 
Adam & Eve: 250gsm Notturno Black. First pass with three hits of opaque white. Hot foil stamped with gloss pale gold foil. Second pass with white, CMYK and duct matt UV. Screen printing with three colours. 3D embossing on Adam & Eve.
 
Tree of Life: 300gsm art card. Cold foiled with silver and printed in light blue 7457C + CMYK + duct matt UV. Micro-embossing on entire sheet.
 
Past: 300gsm art card. Cold foiled with silver and printed in brown 7601C + CMYK + duct matt UV. Micro-embossing on radial lines and details. 3D embossing on Pharaoh’s figure. Offline texture UV to get sand effect.
 
Now: 300 gsm art card. Cold foiling of boat details in silver. Printed in CMYK + duct matt UV. Micro-embossed details of boat and regular embossed the larger areas. Hot foil stamping of curve with dots in copper and ’50 years’ logo in gold. Metal fabricated anchor with 10mm round magnet tied to thread and attached to the ship through a punched hole. 
 
Future: Front sheet on 250gsm art card in two colours. Glow-in-the-dark inks screen printed and holes were die-cut. Braille-embossing of ‘Pragati’ name at bottom right. Back sheet on 300gsm art card and laminated with velvet/soft-touch film.
