Prakash Shetty of JPS Offset Printers is no more
The demise of Prakash Shetty of JPS Offset Printers is a loss to Indian print industry, who was one of the leaders and a pioneer of textile label printing in Salem, passed away on 29 March 2016. He was 72.

A Karmeham, president at Salem District Offset Printers Association (SDOPA), said, “We admired him and we always followed his footsteps. He was always involved with the association for each and every work. It is very difficult to find a person like him.”
“Always do something innovative and have a good idea to pitch in front of the clients, so that the clients are not lost and come to you, again and again, is one of the lessons that I have learnt from him,” Karmeham added.
JPS Offset Printers was founded in 2005 by Shetty and he was also a senior member and advisor committee member at SDOPA, Salem. Shetty is an NAEP gold award winner.
Shetty known as textile label printing master by most of the printers in and around Salem had introduced the gold and silver label printing. Ramakrishnan Shetty, father of Prakash had established Kumar Printing Works in Salem during 1960’s. The company began its operation with a letterpress machine and had 30 employees in the overall operation of the company.
JPS Offset Printers had over 1000 customers in Salem and Shetty played an important role in setting up Salem Printing Colony in 1980.
South India Printers Association (SIPA) Print Expo 2016 is organised by SDOPA and it will be held in November.
