Prakash unveils economical splicer

The SG50, of which there are 12 units installed, is a shaftless reel changer with a maximum splicing speed of 460 metres per minute.
 
The SG50, which Prakash Web Offset director Saurabh Gupta called “world’s most economical flying splicer”, is priced at USD 40,000 (€ 35,192). The USP is a very small footprint of 1016x1300mm
 
“Though this machine is aimed to go along with newspaper presses, it also finds application with flexo and gravure presses. We are also seeing webfed digital users showing interest in this machine,” added Gupta.
 
It is designed by the firm in collaboration with a design team from the US.
