Prati’s new endeavours stirs up the label industry with new initiatives

Prati, the Italy-based manufacturer of machinery for finishing processes during the post-printing phase of self-adhesive labels: personalisation, inspection, die cutting, matrix scraping, unwinding, slitting and overprinting, has brought future to Labelexpo with launch of two new machines, two upgrades and a tie-up which is set to revolutionise the label liner industry.

Prati has teamed up with Ritrama and ILTI in developing the patented Core Linerless Solution, a self-adhesive laminate without liner, which the team claims is 50% thinner than a standard laminated label construction. “This innovation offers a radical answer in terms of efficiency and environmental impact,” said Chiara Prati, sales director at Prati.

Alhena IML and Star Plus are the new launches, while Saturn Midi and Saturn BIDI are upgraded models, all finishing platforms being showcased at Labelexpo Europe. “These equipment present a solutions so as to upgrade the traditional slitting and rewinding process, by exponentially increasing efficiency on the one hand and representing a beneficial alternative for low value-added labels on the other,” said Prati.

For the company, India is a key market and hence has changed the model names of its Saturn series to Sun, because “Saturn is considered unlucky in India,” said Prati. She added, “There are big label companies who serve the big end-users are quality sensitive and our products complies with that requirement,” said Prati.

Prati has an installation base of over 25 machines in India and among the key customers are: Pragati Offset, Letra Graphix, Webtech Labels, ITW Bangalore, and Positive Packaging.

Prati also informed that her company also provide entry-level solutions, which are affordable. “These machines have the same quality as the higher models but with reduced performance in terms of speed and accessories.  But the beauty of these models is that they are built with an open concept which enables upgrading the machine. This means as the printers become more profitable, they can add accessories at a later stage.”

Prati is represented by Mumbai-based Royal Coat in India.
