Prem Saraf is no more

Senior printer from Jammu & Kashmir and a print technologist of the region, Prem Saraf breathed his last at 2.30 am on 24 March 2015. His last rites were performed at the Jogi Gate, Jammu, on the same day. He was 88 years old.

A print enthusiast and a journalist, who served as the editor of Tawi Times, Saraf was a man with multifaceted personality. After retiring from the Jammu & Kashmir government printing press, as works manager, textbook, he started his own printing press, VIP Press, in 1977. He held a diploma in printing from the Northern Regional Institute of Printing Technology, Allahabad, and was nominated as the first president of the Jammu Printers Association in 1980.

Born on 2 November 1927, Saraf has left behind his wife Shakuntala, sons Vijay and Vinay and daughters Neeti and Neelam.

After completing his graduation in commerce from Delhi University in 1950, Saraf did his MA in Economics from Jammu University in 1956.

In the recent years, he also opened the international advertising agency Designers Designers in 1980, besides serving as the editor of Tawi Times. He was also associated with archeology.
