One). Correct folding and colour registration. Two). It has a speed of up to 30,000 copies per hour. Three). The machine is user friendly and requires only two to three persons managing the auto splicer, inking and the console functions.

Satish Bajwa, chairman and managing director, Pressline India spoke to PrintWeek India, he said, “Generally all web presses use two ink form rollers for application of the ink film to plate. Pressline Prima is fitted with a third rider roller to ensure finer miscibility of ink. This avoids hickeys in solids and screens. Additionally, blanket cylinders have been given a narrow gap allowing an extra 10mm print area.”

The Prima is available as an integral part of roll stand as well as separate stacked unit. The stacked unit can be mounted on similar units to make it two-high, three high or four high configurations for multicolour printing on both sides.

As per the Prima information shared with PrintWeek India, "Each unit has the facility of multicolour printing by direct lithography which allows additional colour with minimum loss of page capacity.

This is the reason, the client roster is impressive with installations at S Chand & Co., Repro India, RP Printers, Salasar Imaging Systems, Deepak Pustak Bandhanalya, Indian Express, Viani Printings, Dainik Saamana, International Print-O-Pac (IPP) and Dina Ethal.

Bajwa said, "The Indian coldset web presses have improved with time in terms of tolerances and are now competing with sheetfed quality, but the prime reason that it gives much more faster production and eliminates the need for manpower and equipments required for folding is the folder attached to the printing unit does the work of folding saving the input cost."

Last month the Faridabad player had participated in Print Pack Arabia. Bajwa said, "There is substantial shift in the way Middle East to the African continents are thinking. This means a change. The companies are now supporting the local print industry."

Bajwa is very bullish about where India figures in all this. He said, "It is hoped that keeping in view the global growth figures which are diminishing by all standards, only India surging ahead with 7.6% leaving behind China at 6.9% and South Africa at 1.5%; even as Brazil is at -3.0 % and Russia is at -3.7%. "

He hoped the India web offset story will gain momentum.
