Print and packaging industry women to be awarded today

The finale of the Women to Watch Awards 2023 has arrived. The six month long process set out to celebrate excellence by women and guarantee equality of outcome for women. During the virtual ceremony, the work by women across 12 categories will be awarded.

The stats are impressive. 48 participants, 70 entries, 13 winners. Today (30 June) at 4 pm IST, the winners will be announced during the Women to Watch Awards ceremony.

The Women to Watch Awards seeks to honour the women who lead and inspire excellence in the printing and packaging sectors.

Naheed Sorabjee who is the director at Haymarket Sac and chairperson of the Women to Watch awards will be welcoming the delegates. She said, “These Women to Watch Awards reflect PrintWeek’s and HaymarketSAC’s commitment to promoting gender equality in the industry.”

Sorabjee thanked all six jury members on the jury duty day. “It was a pleasure. I know how difficult your job was. To study 70 entries across 12 categories.”

The jury day was hosted on 28 April 2023.

The jury panel comprised:

Aashika Sadh, founder of #ASHTAG,
Benita Paul, head of marketing - Asia at Siegwerk,
Bhavika Shah, founder and creative director of Beyondesign,
Divya Subramaniam, consulting senior copy editor at Haymarket SAC Publishing,
Nita Uday Dhote, associate professor and HoD, English of Nagindas Khandwala College (University of Mumbai)
Shormistha Mukherjee, director of Flying Cursor Interactive.

Sorabjee added, “Each and every entry is important.” She felt it was for two reasons. “One, it is very important for women in the industry to see women as role models. And two, hopefully when the industry leaders look at all these wonderful women – it will improve gender balance in our teams, our sales forces as well as the factory shop floor.”

As chairperson of the Women to Watch Awards, Sorabjee's message to the women in the industry is, “I know, and indeed so do many of you, that the journey isn’t an easy one.”
