Print education in Coimbatore
The Department of Printing Technology of Avinashilingam University for Women organised a talk by Ramu Ramanathan of PrintWeek India titled “A to Z of Printing, Publishing and Packaging” at its campus on 26 April.

Ramanathan spoke to an all girls classroom and shared insights about the Indian print industry.
He motivated the girl students to ‘think big, think science’ to achieve success in their chosen field. He highlighted the successful print companies in Coimbatore such as The Hindu, Canpac, Glo Digital Press, Maruthi Printers, Hitech, Ace Data etc who have achieved printing excellence in India.
Last year, the Department of Printing Technology of Avinashilingam University for Women hosted a two day packaging conference plus mini exhibition which had papers delivered by scientists from DFRl in Mysore as well as print technologists like Rajendra Kumar Anayath and N Rajeswari of Anna University and Dr Daniel Thanga Durai of SREC.
Also it felicitated its top students at a program attended by the top dignitaries from the AIFMP.
Besides the BE PT program the students also conduct workshops and lec dems. For example, a notable workshop on screen printing was organised for the students of Indian Red Cross Society School for Speech and Hearing Impaired Children, Cheran Nagar, Coimbatore. As many as 16 students participated. There was a demonstration of the printing process and also a hands-on session where the participants got to print on handkerchiefs.
T K S Lakshmi Priya, the Head of the Department of Printing Technology, was the co-ordinator of the programme. She informed PrintWeek India that there is "100% job placement for the students."
