The Print Knowledge programme will take place in St Bride Foundation's Printing Workshop on 19 November, 2013.The course will run bi-monthly, and is likely to expand.

St Bride Foundation is a little gem in one of the by-lanes of Fleet Street, close to St Paul’s Cathedral in London, which was established in 1891. The Foundation houses over 50,000 books, pamphlets, periodicals and artefacts relating to printing, typography, journalism, publishing and graphic design and archives containing works from 1400BC.

A team of experts including the Foundation's letterpress gurus Mick Clayton and Bob Richardson will be led by Alan Springett, senior lecturer of Print Media, will begin the day with the origins of print, investigating typesetting, colour mixing, print terminology and a tour of the building's vast, prestigious archive.

Glyn Farrow, chief executive officer, who joined Foundation four years ago and Alison Harper, who has just been brought in to re-launch the Foundation back into the printing industry, aim to bring the print industry and the students back to the Foundation, because there is so much to learn from the archives here. "At its inception, St Bride Foundation was charged with ensuring that the print community was served with quality teaching and professional development. Now, we must pick up this mantle with renewed vigour to ensure it is not lost forever,” said Farrow.

The Print Knowledge places are limited to six per day and companies can block-book for groups of students with the knowledge that the programme can be tweaked suitably to suit participants. The fees of £450 include lunch and refreshments.
