Print quality expectation rising in rural areas, says Pandya of QI Press

According to Vijay Pandya of QI Press, the company, QI has installed its systems on around 120 towers in 2015 and expects to install on more 40 towers by the end of the year. “There is awareness about technology which saves on labour, energy and paper cost. We are using low cost labour but not as efficient as European nations. The cost of energy consumption is high for running the business and the printers are more interested in automation process. Plus since 2014, there has been a 20% increase in cost of paper.”
 
Newspapers have been have a good run in tier-I cities. And that is extending to tier-II and tier-III cities too. Newspapers like Jagran Prakashan and Dainik Jagran are expanding in smaller cities. According to Pandya, in rural areas, the print quality expectations are rising for the advertisements in newspapers segment. “The regional newspapers are keen in this kind of market. Namaste Telangana, Telugu daily, has added a new Manroland Cromoman in their kitty,” Pandya concluded, “60% of our installation in 2015 have been in the rural areas.”
