Print students to showcase their talent at Anna University’s Imprint ’15
Students pursuing print technology in institutes all over India will come together to participate in a symposium and share knowledge at Imprint ’15, the national level technical symposium, organised by the Society of Printing Engineers, Department of Printing Technology, Anna University, Chennai. The technical symposium will be held on 12 and 13 March 2015 at the university campus.

The symposium will include ‘tech-talks’, where experts from corporate houses will talk for an hour each day; ‘technical paper presentation’, where print engineers will present their research work in the field of printing, and ‘package design’, where students will create new packages within a stipulated period of time. There will also be a technical debate based on technological/industrial topics, and a competition, titled vintage, to test the image editing skills of the students.
The symposium will be followed by other events, such as poster design, ad zap, print the price, jargon jostle, and so on.
The national level technical symposium, Imprint, is organised every year with the express aim to give the print technology students a common platform to meet and share knowledge, and grow together.
Students from Jadavpur University, Kolkata; Guru Jambheshwar University, Hisar, Haryana; Manipal Institute of Technology, Karnataka; Pune Vidhyarthi Griha’s CoE&T, Pune; Avinashilingam Deemed University, Coimbatore; SIES Graduate School of Technology, Mumbai, have been participating in the symposium for years.
According to Prashant Kumar, one of the member of the organising committee, around 250 students, including the students from the College of Engineering, Gundy, will participate in the seminar. Prashant also said that the events conducted during ‘Imprint’ are judged by the eminent personalities from organisations like The Hindu, TNPL, Heidelberg India, to mention a few.
The Society of Printing Engineers, since 1987, has been keeping the printing engineers of the department of printing technology, Anna University, Chennai, in tune with the latest technologies available in the field of printing by conducting continuous activities like weekly seminars, technical quiz, industry people interaction, group discussion, expert lectures, and so on.
Kumar said, ‘Imprint’ provides the students of printing technology across India a platform to showcase their potential and talent. Students show their versatility through the variety of events. Every year, ‘Imprint’ comes up with a new theme. This year, symposium will focus on ‘Etiquette the Print’, which emphasises on the necessity and importance of quality in the field of printing and allied sectors.
