The two new kit sit alongside three other folding machines, one GUK, which was installed in 2008 and two Herzog + Heymann machines making the tally of five folding machines.
“The new investment has boosted our outsert production capacity up to five-lakh outserts per day,” informed, director, Tejas Tanna, who heads production and marketing at the firm.
The machines were supplied by Vijuk’s Indian representative Welbound Worldwide.
Ankit Tanna, Tejas’ younger brother and director at Printmann takes care of finance and procurement. Speaking to
PrintWeek India, Ankit said, “When we made the deal with Vijuk and Welbound in 2013, it was a two machine deal spaced out in a span of one year. This reason being, we believed in the product and also in the market.”
The first machine was delivered in 2013 while the second machine was commissioned a few months ago.
P Sajith, Welbound's director of marketing and sales said, “Printmann has been focused on providing value for their customers, be it in the converting or commercial print segment. They also adopt latest technologies quickly. Tejas and Ankit were quite sure that they want to invest in the top of the line model, when they finalised the specifications with G&K Vijuk.”
The FA53 18-plate, three-knife system is equipped with sophisticated inspection and rejection system. The large format, light weight paper is scored with water jets, before they are folded many times to the size of the outsert that fits the size of a bottle cap.
The Tanna brothers were impressed with the pressing units that are a part of these new 18-plate G&K Vijuk FA53. The pressing units remove excessive air from the outserts thus enabling Printmann to produce bigger outserts without bulge. “The thin outserts sans bulge run smoothly at our customers end. So it helps,” explained Tejas.
Moreover, with this system Printmann is in a position to provide glued outserts alongside taped ones, which was not the case earlier. “Therefore, we were able to add new clients who opt for glued outserts only,” said Tejas.
The battery of five folding machines with a mix of different configurations including 12, 14, 16 and 18-plates, Printmann can convert all types of outserts as per clients’ requirement.
Established in 1987 by Bipin Tanna as a commercial print firm, Printmann Offset has over the years radically transformed itself to become one of the top five pharmaceutical packaging specialists in India.
