In wide-format, Canon will launch products featuring inkjet and LED colour. In digital, the company will launch a new model in colour ImagePress series.

“All the products are quite revolutionary in their respective domains. Briefly, the exhibition will see the ‘highest number of product launches’ ever from Canon in the last eight years on a single exhibition,” Puneet Datta of Canon India said.

According to Datta, Canon India has strengthened its position in the digital printing space since the PrintPack 2015. “We had launched our ImagePress C800 series and the highly anticipated ImagePress 1000 VP. We have also upgraded our ImageRunner Advance 8000 series. We also launched the 85 ppm mono model which is seeing a great demand from the customers,” Datta added.

Canon, coming to the exhibition for the fifth time, will have a 160 sq/m stall during PrintPack 2017. “PrintPack India has always been an important platform for us to showcase our thought leadership in technology, our offerings and application approach. We are happy to say that we have been very successful in proving our point in all aspects. PrintPack has given us a quantum leap in terms of our sales increment both in digital cutsheet and wide-format space,” Datta said.

He added that exhibitions are one of the most effective ways of connecting with customers through technology and applications display. “It really helps reach customers of various segments and geographies and eventually help us increase sales. From Canon perspective, we always try to be part of these trade shows to leverage such opportunities,” he said, adding, “During an exhibition, our key goal has been to demonstrate to our customers the unique selling proposition and varied applications that they can expect out of our products.”

Post-demonetisation, Datta believes 2017 will be the year of ‘change’ for the print industry. “Post-demonetisation, the industry is now looking forward to the Union Budget and the GST implementation. I think everyone will wait for the Budget to chart out/plan their next investments,” he said.

Overall, according to Datta, the print industry will need to change with changing times and policies and 2017 could prove to be version 2.0 of the Indian Print Industry.
