The system will be demonstrated at Baumer’s stand as well on the folder-gluers of its reputed OEM partners, said, Vaibhav Kulkarni, product marketing manager - gluing system, Baumer India.
The latest evolution of Baumer’s Xtend series of controllers, the Xtend3 features multi-touch technology that automatically detects and communicates with the components connected to it.
The controller is able to handle a full range of different sensors; it can control not just cold glue application and associated quality control, but also hot melt guns and detection, as well as Xcam solution for a wide range of QC applications.
Kulkarni explained, “With Xtend3 you can operate hot melt application centrally for the first time. On one screen, you can enter the required lengths of the glue lines and the heating times for the tank, hoses and application heads. You can also see all current values at any time, as well as any error messages. Additional entries on the melter display are no longer necessary.”
He added, “The melters of the Xmelt Series detect all connected hoses and application heads by plug-and-play. The big Xtend3 screen gives you the information on all connected components. Xtend3 supports Xmelt functions such as: component identification for application heads, sensors, hoses, melters, input and monitoring of set-point temperatures, pump pressure, filter change cycles, glue level, maintenance cycles. On many machines, you have to crawl under the machine to make these settings on the back.”
Talking about installations in India, Kulkarni said, “We have more than 40 high-end systems installed in India. The top names include Parksons Packaging, TCPL Packaging, Temple Packaging, ITC, Patanjali, and Arunodaya among others. The overall installations are more than 1000 for different applications and industry segments.”
