Deepak Gupta of Savitar Graphics said, “Die-cutting was the only operation in our process which was manual, creating a bottleneck in the production line.”

He added that so far die-cutting operation was done either hand-punching or cylinder punching. Speed and accuracy of the operation was extremely low leading to huge amount of printed sheets being held on the shopfloor.

With the Maxima die-cutter, Gupta said, the overall cycle time will be reduced significantly and will help Savitar to promise early delivery of the jobs to its customers. “It takes one week to die-cut 1,00,000 sheets. After the investment, we will be die-cutting the same amount of sheets within two days.”

The machine is expected to be installed within 10 days of show completion.

Overall, Excel claims to have sold six Maximas at the PrintPack India 2019.

Excel demonstrates bigger version of Maxima die-cutter

The Maxima HS 1020 28x40-inch die-cutter runs at a maximum speed of 7500-sph and has an inline stripping unit.

Jitendra Patel of Excel Machinery said, “There was a continuous demand from the market for bigger version of Maxima and so we launched the Maxima HS 1020.”

According to Patel, the USP of the machine is its ability to die-cut eflute and three-ply corrugated sheets efficiently. HS1020 to uses push-type side lay as well as pull-type side lay for the registration of the sheets which is an upgrade from the previous version. Pull-type side lays are used for folding cartons whereas push-type side lays are used for corrugated boards.

Excel has installed three HS 1020 including Ahmedabad’s Brahma Packaging, Indore’s Girnar Packaging and Vasai’s Kalapi Printing Press.
