Heidelberg India showed its latest innovation in printing technology – the Heidelberg Speedmaster CX 92 four-colour press at its stand Hall 16/K35 at PrintPack being held at the India Expo Centre, Greater Noida from 1-5 Feb 2024. The Speedmaster CX 92 four-colour press is designed to meet the growing demands of both commercial and packaging printers.

Samir Patkar, president of Heidelberg India, also announced the sale of the machine on the stand to Mumbai-based Almats Branding Solutions, a key player in the branding and printing industry with over 50 years of expertise. The Speedmaster CX 92 four-colour press on display at the show drew crowds and turned heads with its live demonstrations at Heidelberg’s stand.

Husain Asgar, director at Almats Branding Solutions, expressed his enthusiasm about the new partnership, saying, “We are thrilled to add the high-performance Speedmaster CX 92 to our production line. This press will help us meet growing customer demand while ensuring the highest quality standards. Our decision to partner with Heidelberg India has been validated by their unmatched technology and support. We believe the Speedmaster CX 92 is a game-changer, and we look forward to seeing the remarkable results it will deliver.”

Patkar took the stage to introduce the Speedmaster CX 92, emphasising its transformative potential for the industry. "A lot of preparation has gone into making this wonderful Speedmaster CX 92 four-colour press a true workhorse," Patkar said. "We’ve integrated parts and services, consumables, Master Works die-cutters and folder-gluers, the Diana Easy 115 as displayed on the booth, and, last but not least, our Prinect workflow to ensure seamless operations."

Speaking about the Almats installation, Patkar said that this marks our presence not just in the north and south of India but also in the western region. "And there’s more exciting news—a second CX 92 for commercial printing is also coming to the west in the coming months, though the customer has requested confidentiality for now."

Patkar highlighted the press's ability to handle a wide range of applications, from commercial printing to packaging. "This is not just a press for commercial jobs; it’s also designed to easily run packaging jobs," he explained. "Over the next five days, you’ll see it live-printing 300-gsm board for cartons, 250-gsm board, and 130-gsm for commercial print, with changeovers in less than 15 minutes." The Speedmaster CX 92 perfectly blends Heidelberg’s renowned engineering and advanced AI-driven workflow solutions. "Heidelberg is known for engineering at its best—longevity and robustness," Patkar noted. "But times are changing, and factors like make-ready times, waste reduction, and achieving top production speeds are critical. This is why we’ve integrated ‘Prinect’ intelligent workflow solutions, to make the presses run more smarter and more efficient."

In line with Heidelberg's global sustainability initiatives, the Speedmaster CX 92 incorporates eco-friendly technologies that minimise waste and energy consumption. Patkar emphasised the importance of sustainability in today's printing industry, stating, "As a leader in the printing sector, we have a responsibility to drive sustainable practices. The Speedmaster CX 92 is designed to help our customers reduce their environmental footprint while maintaining profitability."

Over the next five days, Heidelberg India will host live demonstrations of the Speedmaster CX 92, allowing visitors to experience its capabilities firsthand. "The equipment has to do the talking," Patkar said, "and that’s exactly what we’re here for. Our team has worked day and night, in a record breaking 2 days’ time, we get this press up and running, and we’re excited to show you what it can do."
