Puja Printech has finalised a deal to install an HP Indigo 15K digital press on the third day of PrintPack 2025, adding to its existing fleet. The new machine, expected to be commissioned in March, will complement the company’s seven-year-old HP Indigo 3600.
“We have been connected with the HP family since 2016, when we bought an HP Indigo 3600, an A3-sized machine. Now we are expanding into the B2 size,” said Lok Prakash Singh, director of Puja Printech.
The company operates a combination of commercial and offset presses, including a web offset and a Heidelberg eight-colour machine. The investment in the Indigo 15K will facilitate entry into the packaging sector, with plans to introduce sweet boxes, gift boxes, product boxes, and wedding cards.
Singh said security printing is another key area of focus, particularly university and school certificates. “The features in those certificates cannot be copied,” he said.
Patna has witnessed increased printing activity, with 30 offset presses installed in the past six months. Around 50 printers are expected to produce nine crore books for 1.10 crore students from classes one to eight, which will be distributed free of cost. “We can print covers for those books,” Singh said.
The 15K marks Puja Printech’s entry into the B2 segment, with plans to upgrade in the future. “For the B2 size, the 15K is the minimum when you begin. I saw the 18K in Germany. That will come later as an upgrade,” Singh said.
The new press will also support the company’s expansion into the photo printing segment. While Patna’s print market differs from commercial hubs like Mumbai and Delhi, Singh sees opportunities beyond Bihar. “We will cover Kolkata, Varanasi, Jharkhand, Eastern UP, Odisha, and Nepal,” he said.
Speaking to PrintWeek, A Appadurai, country business manager – Indigo and inkjet business solutions at HP, said the deal highlights the growing potential of tier-two cities. “The observed growth in these areas, coupled with increased budget allocations, underscores their rising importance in the market. We see this as a significant entry point into this segment,” he said.
HP’s focus remains on enabling single investments that create multiple revenue streams. Appadurai said the Indigo 15K will have a notable impact on general commercial printing, particularly in government operations in Bihar. “This initiative will enhance efficiency and service delivery,” he said.
He added that the company’s photo lab will utilise advanced machinery to expand capabilities while also entering the packaging sector. “Bihar has gained recognition as the ‘Makhana capital of the Wworld,’ presenting a unique opportunity for us to package a variety of local products using our printing solutions. We are excited about the possibilities ahead,” he said.
