Dilip Kanth, managing director of Kyocera Document Solutions India, said the partnership will allow both companies to build on their respective strengths. “We manufacture some of the most reliable equipment in the industry, and TechNova’s strong presence in India makes this a valuable collaboration. This association will bridge the gap between our product and the end customer,” he said.
TechNova sees this as part of a broader strategy to strengthen its digital printing portfolio. The company has alliances with multiple inkjet technology providers, including HP and Founder, offering solutions for different segments of the market. HP’s inkjet presses cater to high-volume industrial applications such as label and commercial printing, while Founder’s solutions address roll-to-sheet applications for book publishing. The addition of Kyocera brings in sheetfed inkjet, targeting mid-volume print requirements.
Sheena Parikh, joint managing director, TechNova, said, “Inkjet is playing a key role in the publishing segment, and short-run printing is becoming more relevant. We are structuring our digital portfolio to meet the varied needs of the market. Kyocera’s sheetfed inkjet solutions fit well within this strategy, offering an option for customers who require lower capital expenditure while maintaining high productivity.”
TechNova’s inkjet strategy is focused on segmenting solutions based on print volumes and capital investment. High-volume printers require industrial solutions such as HP PageWide, which is suited for large publishing operations. Founder’s roll-to-sheet solutions cater to mid-sized publishing businesses, offering flexibility in substrate handling. Kyocera’s technology fills a gap in the market by providing cost-effective sheetfed inkjet solutions for printers handling smaller print runs.
Parikh noted that the shift towards short-run and on-demand printing is accelerating, driven by changing business models in publishing. “India’s publishing sector is evolving, with increasing demand for short-run and on-demand printing. Kyocera’s technology allows printers to adapt to these changes without significant upfront investment,” she said.
Kanth highlighted Kyocera’s expertise in printhead manufacturing, noting that the company is an OEM supplier to other manufacturers. “Printhead technology is critical to print reliability and running costs, and this is one of Kyocera’s core strengths,” he said. He also emphasised that the company’s solutions are positioned for on-demand printing, addressing market shifts where offset is less viable for short-run applications.
TechNova believes inkjet will play a defining role in the future of digital printing, particularly as cost structures improve. The company is aligning its portfolio to serve a range of print businesses, from high-end publishing to entry-level digital printing. Kyocera’s addition strengthens its ability to offer flexible and scalable inkjet solutions.
Kyocera has reported growth of more than 35% in the current financial year, with expectations of continued expansion. The company believes its inkjet technology and the new partnership will further drive growth in the Indian market.
