Zund’s S3 M 800 digital cutting will be the company’s star attraction at the show. The swiss-based digital cutting system specialist has been manufacturing digital cutting machines since 1984.

The modular concept of Zund is about its ability to change the tools as per the substrate characteristics on the same cutting table. The compact machine (1,330x800mm) occupies less space and opportunity cost, says Venkatesh Prasanna, managing director of Zund India. “At 480 kgs, the machine is built for production purposes and not only sample making. It can handle a variety of substrates including heavy boards and Routing applications as well in addition to cutting.”

At the show, Prasanna hopes to impress the visitors with the importance of automation. “The SKUs are increasing, and repeat jobs are decreasing. Margins are shrinking and hence there’s a need to do things differently. One has to look at lesser dependence on labour.”

Prasanna adds, “With more and more digitization happening around, one could look forward to experiencing the latest in digital cutting solutions at our booth.”

Impel Services

Instead of a product, P Sajith, managing director at Impel, says, we are presenting what can be called a paradigm shift for book manufacturers in India.

“Bookbinding solutions with state of the art automation, modularity and connectivity – with a prefix “affordable”. Be it one book at a time or lakhs of them, be it a speed of 2,000 books per hour or 5000 books per hour, be it stand-alone or inline, we will have all of it demonstrated in Printpack,” says Sajith.

To drive his point at the show, Impel will be showing the power of Freedom 2K V2 binder with a barcode read input that will set the machine in a few seconds or the same machine can be connected to a gatherer and trimmer for regular production. Another kit, the Freedom 5K binder also has similar capabilities but addressing higher throughputs per day. And we present configurations to produce books with the lowest energy and space cost per book.

These machines were launched in 2022. The USPs of the kit: Bookbinding – short or medium or long runs, at the lowest investment, power, labour and space costs per book. “For a book printer, it is important that they produce books with the best of quality, at the shortest time consuming minimal labour, space and power. There is no other place in the world, they can get a close look at this – and plan for investments,” says Sajith.

Is book publishing and printing back to normal? Yes, says Sajith. “Our newer kit is helping them make book ops more cost and quality efficient. Come and visit the Impel stand to witness the technology.”
