PrintWeek Awards 2022: Letra Graphix wins Packaging Converter of the Year (Pharma)

Letra finding a place in this keenly contested Award category will come as a no surprise. Letra packed innovation in all the four samples in its submission.

The Zycov D 2ml nCov vaccine label for Zydus Cadila had a host of print and security features. Printed on the Gallus EMS 280, the label had a window, which was gloss varnished. It also had invisible blue ink (dynamic), scratch off black ink for security, micro text, scratch off silver ink, special symbol (dynamic) and scratch off release varnish. 

The Fulvestrant injection multi-layer label for Zydus Cadila was produced on the Gallus EMS 280 using PP clear film. Special feature included, application of label on pre-filled syringe, with another label overlapped on the edge. This required Letra operation to create a perforated cut mark to be torn off partially so that it can be stuck on the patient’s file for future reference. The company used Gum Kill at pealable tab, special coating print to create peel-able surface, and special treatment on a part of the label to enable the hospital staff to write the details.

The Essato Life Science’s Finasto-1000 tablet labels too and Bafna Pharma’s Diavin-500 tablet labels too were produced on the Gallus EMS 280 flexo press using PP metallic and Chromo paper respectively. The labels included special features like holographic foiling, scratch features, dynamic and masked, and blue invisible varnish.

Supplying to the pharmaceutical sector means the company has to produce packaging products within strict parameters, even when innovating, and Letra has exhibited all those characteristics in its labels, said the judges.

According to Letra, the company has created an enthusiastic approach with its business. “We place the customers at the centre of all we do, driving forward a number of aspects like adding value to our offering. Our samples at the Awards demonstrate our in-house design facility, and solid manufacturing experience.”
