“All these products require packing. While our clients supplying non-essentials willingly shut shop temporarily, there were several clients belonging to essential segments like pharmaceuticals, essential drug manufacturers, edible oil manufacturers and sanitiser companies who needed our support to keep their business going,” said Aarjav Hansoti, director at S Kumar Multi Products (SKMP).

The company lost no time in obtaining necessary permission to keep its business running during peak lockdown to support its clients. The company delivered 5,000 to 5-lakh labels within 24 to 48 hours printing 30 to 40 jobs per day. Among the supplies were labels for companies manufacturing oil, sanitiser, injectable vials and ampoules, nutraceuticals, and vaccines.

“Safety protocols and social distancing was our top priority. We recognised the fact that not just our employees but their families’ well being too became our responsibility. Out of our strength of nearly 150 employees, we identified 40 of those who lived in the locality of our plant for whom commuting would not be a challenge and we could keep the printing running. Necessary permissions were obtained, and letters were issued to these employees only so they were not stopped by the authorities en route the plant. Overnight a sanitisation tunnel was installed. Sanitisers, masks and gloves were issued to all,” said Hansoti.

The company pressed into action its label presses including the newly installed India’s first Screen Truepress Jet L350UV.

Among its most important project, the opportunity to print Covaxin labels holds a place of pride. “With tremendous attention to details required, and several security features such as invisible ink, micro text, among others, we bagged the order after several rounds of intensive testing,” concluded Hansoti.
