As Peter Anil Rego of Brilliant told PrintWeek, “Now, customers want to move out of China. Where would they go? Some of them are going to Vietnam, and Brazil, among others. A few more want to come to India. If we put our act together, India can become the book printing hub of the world. We have the capacity, infrastructure and space. There is a big opportunity for India.”
The Brilliant factory backs the export push for soft or hard cover books. The layout is an eye-opener. In the past few years, the Brilliant team has removed so many bottlenecks in the process.
The focus on covers, binding, and gilding is their USP. The swatch book concept for book covers is simply brilliant. But it’s their low gsm paper printing expertise (27 gsm is their super specialisation) that gives Brilliant an edge over others.
Rego’s guru gyaan for other book exporters. “Do get the facility certified with various certifications available, such as ISO, Sedex, FSC, and others. It is a cost, and it’s a tedious process to put everything together. But it’s worth the effort. At the end of the day, when international customers look for book printers in India, they look for such certifications, and if you have them, then you get noticed.”
