PrintWeek Awards 2023: EPL wins Green Company of the Year – Large (Joint Winner)
EPL (the world’s largest specialty packaging company specialising in manufacturing laminated plastic tubes) has a gold medal from EcoVadis. This is an affirmation of the company’s commitment to sustainability.

As Anand Kripalu, the global CEO and MD at EPL, said “Our focus on product, people and process sustainability is what will make us ‘lead the pack‘ in the times to come. In FY 23, we more than doubled sustainable tube volumes; we aim to again double in FY 24.”
One of the highlights for the jury was EPL’s sustainability approach to plastic packaging weight reduction. Case in point: The fully recyclable Colgate Palmolive tube. Totally six-million tubes were printed by the letterpress process. This is possible because Platina tubes can be recycled in the dominant Code 2 plastic stream. This means Platina tubes are not only 100 % recyclable, but they also enable a reduction in plastic usage through down gauging, helping leading FMCG brands meet their sustainability commitments.
EPL, headquartered in Mumbai, India, operates 19 facilities spread across nine countries, namely China, Colombia, Egypt, Germany, India, Mexico, the Philippines, Poland and the United States. The company sells more than eight-billion tubes annually.
Special Jury Mention
Lovely Offset (Sivakasi)
Lovely Offset in Sivakasi is perhaps the most environmentally conscious printer in the country. With its solar unit and wind power generators, the group produces more electricity than they consume. In addition to the standard sustainable practice, the Lovely team is a huge advocate of the Miyawaki forest method. Probably the first print firm in the country to do so on such a scale.
