Multivista’s green drive began in 2008. Be it: the factory building, the green landscaping, or the eco drive. But it’s been much more focused in the past four years.
What makes the book factory special is the 166-member team’s work with the SBTi project and for its GHG reduction commitments, as well as the implementation of ISO 14001, FSC, SMETA certifications. The group has notched up Rs 52-crore in book exports. Proof that the green mission is reaping benefits.
One of the first book print firms to commit to SBTi to reduce 28% of GHG Emissions (Scope 1 & 2) by 2030. For the base year of 2019, Multivista’s wind energy share was 0%. Now it has increased to 81%. Also, Multivista is part of a book chain project, a collaborative initiative by Carnstone, involving publishers, print service providers and paper manufacturers.
This enables publishers to monitor the progress made by the printers about carbon emissions and other sustainability initiatives.
In 2021, the group initiated a Stakeholder Engagement & Materiality Analysis to identify the most relevant material issues. The inaugural Multivista Sustainability Report, with enhanced disclosures, encompassing strategic initiatives and KPIs, was published last year.
But the main reason Multivista is a winner in the Green category is because the Multivista team has focussed on things they could control, which has earned them an Ecovadis medal.
