PrintWeek Awards 2024: Afflatus Gravure wins Pre-Press and Design Service Provider of the Year

It’s an industry mantra. Ten out of ten artworks require editing. The mistakes that make it to the shelf are as follows: technical drawing — 15%; graphic distortion — 16%; copy errors — 40%; skewed tech specs: 10%; pre-press/print — 19%.

The reason Afflatus Gravure wins the Prism is, it processes 55,000 artworks annually. And it does so pretty seamlessly. This results in the production of approximately 2,10,000 printing cylinders and flexo plates each year. That means a combination of stunning designs and meticulous pre-press work along with solid work on a cylinder which is engraved with a specific image or complex pattern that needs to be printed.

Two things impressed our Jury. How Afflatus leverages fully automated laser engraving and full HD flexo machines to meet the demands of top brands across the country. Also how, Afflatus, in collaboration with researchers of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee, has developed environment-friendly technology for flexible printing while deploying water-based ink with laser cylinders.

Today, Afflatus is one of the country’s largest cylinder-making companies, and it provides gravure and flexo printing services, covering the full production cycle from base-shell preparation to engraved cylinders, flexo plates, and ITR sleeves. It bagged the Most Challenging Project of the Year at the PrintWeek Awards 2023.
