PrintWeek Awards 2024: HBD Packaging wins Packaging Converter of the Year (FMCG) (Joint Winner)

Winner of the Special Jury Award in Packaging Converter of the Year (General) in 2017 and a regular contender in this category, HBD Packaging won the award for its seemingly effortless skill in transforming simple carton jobs into something special.

For the last 40 years, HBD Packaging has been in the business of paperboard packaging. Initially, the plant was in Okhla. As the business grew, the company shifted to Greater Noida in 2005 after acquiring a two-acre industrial plot. It now has two units in Greater Noida.

The samples were printed on 300- and 400-gsm FBB on an RMGT 970 seven-colour with LED and online coating.

The Tynor Patellar Support sample is a carton with the top tuck-in and a hanger pasted. The special features of the job are reverse gold foil stamping and spot UV coating. It was a challenge to get the reverse foil stamping right on the matte laminated sheet. The run length was 5,000.

The Brufica Plus carton has a reverse tuck. Special features include radium UV coating for security features, Braille and embossing. In terms of utility, the radium coating glows in the dark. The run length was 55,000.

The Sharbat Sandal sample is a lock-bottom carton printed with LED ink, reducing ozone emission and coating the inline texture. The ink was from Siegwerk. The run length was 10,500.

The Odonil Exotic room spray carton was developed and launched in 12 days after receiving the final artwork including proofing. HBD developed the lock-bottom in-house enhanced quick assembling of the carton. Printed on the RMGT press the five-colour (CMYK plus reflex blue) carton features gold foil, texture UV coating, embossing, die-cuttting and gluing. HBD printed 18,000 cartons for this Dabur India order.
