PrintWeek Awards 2024: Kumar Printers wins Innovative Printer of the Year (paper/paperboard/corrugated) (Joint Winner)

In response to cost and sustainability concerns, the company redesigned it as a fully folding box board/whiteboard-based carton, with the foam cavity, grey board, and art paper all replaced. The new design is lighter, cost-effective, sustainable, and quicker to produce due to the removal of foam-cutting, pasting, and box-making operations.

The main challenge was to create an internal holding mechanism to secure the product. After several attempts, Kumar Printers designed an internal die-cut structure that was sturdy enough to keep the product safe.

The exterior of the carton features vibrant six-colour printing with drip-off texture coating. A small area at the top of the carton was left free of texture coating to allow the application of sealing tape by the customer. Embossing was used to add some texture to the image of the shaving handle and the brand name.

A total of 40,000 pieces were created.
