PrintWeek Awards 2024: Kwality Offset Printers wins Label Printer of the Year (Joint Winner)

Having won its first PrintWeek Award after nine years of persistence during the last edition, Kwality Offset Printers makes it two times in a row with a win this year.

For the Label Printer of the Year 2024 edition, Kwality sent in four samples, that the judges said, “pushed the envelope by disrupting the usual label template.”

The Greater than Gin labels for Nao Spirits had a simple yet powerful design. Printing on the Xeikon 3030 Plus using the ABG Digicon Series 3 for finishing, the three-colour label (black, yellow and red) used Estate 8 material by Avery Dennison. The labels received intricate Kurz copper hot foil stamping, reverse hot foil and a tactile UV to give a raised effect on the branding and logos.

The second sample was Bandarful Coffee Liqueur Labels. In the world of spirits, storytelling through packaging can elevate a brand’s identity. Bandarful Cofee Liqueur’s labels embody the essence of a farm-to-bottle journey, showcasing the adventurous spirit of Himalayan langurs amidst lush landscapes. Kwality used Xeikon 3030 Plus’ colour accuracy and flexibility and the ABG Digicon Series 3 finishing capability to expertly handle intricate die-cutting, foil stamping, and tactile raise effect.

The Only Olympic Mixture You Needed mouth freshener label stood out with its exceptional packaging, crafted by the Kwality team. The label features a combination of matte UV, raised tactile effect, and Kurz special shade hot foil, intricately performed on the Indian pattern. This attention to detail gives the brand a luxurious feel, setting it apart from competitors. Kwality said, “Printing on PP white paper proved to be a challenging task, especially performing foiling on this substrate and printing a solid Pantone without any dots/lines.” Kwality used the Gallus ECS 340 flexo press in combination with ABG Digicon to produce this stunning label.

For the fourth sample, Kwality put the Xeikon and the ABG kit to use. The Teller Coffee Rum Liqeuer label, a CMYK print features a mystical figure with the power to predict the future, showcased in stunning 3D layered foiling. The eye-catching design invites consumers to gaze into the future, while the main branding and text in 3D foil add a touch of luxury and sophistication.
