PrintWeek Awards 2024: Photopark Digital Press wins Digital Photo Album Printer of the Year

While digital photo albums may include any subject under the sun, the category has come to be dominated by wedding photo albums over the years. This year, too, the winning entries from Ernakulam-based Photopark include wedding albums. But there are other events that Photopark’s samples celebrate.

Photopark’s first win in the category is set apart by the company’s approach to the photo album segment, offering customised solutions that include various boxes, covers, calendars, mini books, portrait photos, pensive bags, and album presentations. Each design is exclusively crafted, incorporating personalised touches like lace, ribbons and laser cuts.

The samples were printed on Luster 240-gsm media on a Canon DreamLabo 5000, delivering photographs with fine detail and vibrant colours at a 2,400-dpi resolution. The post-press embellishments were handled by Photopark’s skilled staff with minimal machine intervention.

The album for Roopesh Pai features a central image on the cover, surrounded by inner frames crafted from dark blue suede rexine, which was the primary material chosen for the box and the cover.

The album for Lights on Creation features compartments for a mini book, a tabletop calendar and a slot for a pen drive, with the main album on the top. A standout element of the design is the triple wood circle laser cut applied to the top of both the box and the cover.

A white theme was chosen for creating a bespoke presentation package for Adam Lights, a photographer specialising in baptism. The cover design features a prominent three-fourth acrylic glass panel with a delicate pattern, enhancing the visual appeal.

For the album for Weva, the box was designed as a two-way structure, with the top section dedicated to a tabletop calendar and some portrait images. The bottom part houses the main album. The challenge was the integration of various elements and materials while maintaining a high-quality finish.
