The PrintWeek India Award goes to ...

The sixth edition of the PrintWeek India Awards is heading towards a grand finale with an august PrintWeek India Awards Night on Monday, 6 October 2014 at the Grand Hyatt, Santacruz in Mumbai. The evening, as in the past five editions will have a formal sit-down dinner followed by a dignified round of entertainment.

The PrintWeek India Printing Company of the Year, the highest accolade for the night, will be honoured to the printing company which has excelled financially as well as achieved unparalleled printing services. 

The companies shortlisted for the industry's biggest award are:

Gautam Paper Udhyog
International Print-O-Pac
Manipal Technologies
Mudrika Labels
Pragati Offset
Quenby Transfers India
Replika Press

The companies which have proved their mettle in the past five years starting from 2009 include Manipal Technologies (twice), International Print-O-Pac, Parksons Packaging and Pragati Offset. 

The official auditor, JK Doshi, had the following comments about the trophy winning firms:
 

Manipal Technologies – Winner of PrintWeek India Printing Company of the Year 2009: Manipal Technologies invested $30 million in infrastructure in 2008-09. This catered to the publishing (commercial) segment and $7.5 million in the plastic cards business.

International Print-O-Pac - Winner of PrintWeek India Printing Company of the Year 2010: The group has a large working capital requirement. Fixed assets have been achieved through borrowed funds as well as share premium. The IPP group has been granted a stable P1 rating by Crisil which is a high quality rating.
 

Parksons Packaging - Winner of PrintWeek India Printing Company of the Year 2011: The saw gross sales rose by 34.21%, the highest in the category. It was also the firm which invested the most in fixed assets.
 

Manipal Technologies - Winner of PrintWeek India Printing Company of the Year 2012 According to our official audit, Manipal Technologies scored the highest - among the major contenders in this category - in terms of percentage change in current asset (Net) of 61.21%. Likewise it showed an increase in net worth to turnover at the highest 22.5%.

Pragati Offset - Winner of PrintWeek India Printing Company of the Year 2013 According to our official auditor, during the year, the company’s fixed assets increased by 4.89% and the net current asset has increased by 9.18%, also being highest in the category.  And though the profit before tax has decreased by 1.48% and return on capital employed decreased by 2.17% in the corresponding period of the previous year, there is a corresponding increase in the salaries as a percentage of sales by 1.01%.

Highlights of 2014 Awards

A tally of 1,280+ print samples from 122 print companies across India came under the spotlight of 46 discerning members of jury who discussed and deliberated the merits of each and every entry at the Jury Day which was held on 25 August, 2014 at The Leela hotel in Mumbai . 

Noel D'cunha, deputy editor of PrintWeek India said, "88 companies have been shortlisted for six performance and 20 quality categories." 

PrintWeek India has also entering into a media partnership with NDTV Profit/Prime channel, wherein the TV channel will broadcast the Awards Night, which will be held at the Grand Hyatt. The network will devote 50 customised pre-event and pre-telecast promos of 20 seconds each prior to the event; and a half an hour original and repeat telecast post-event.
