ITC is a clear market leader in the Indian packaging industry with its capacity to convert 13,000 tons per month as per the government’s green regulations.
A look at the green drive at ITC shows-off its commitment to training plus an array of certifications. All this has boosted a low-carbon growth strategy through reduction in energy consumption plus high usage of renewable energy sources. At the same time, the packaging plants (and this includes the recent investments in rigid boxes and flexo corrugated packaging whereby the business has consolidated its position as a one-stop shop for packaging solutions) points to positive footprint. A vast majority of the total energy requirement is met from renewable sources, a testimony to its commitment to low carbon growth path.
A look at the ITC report indicates the endeavours to reduce water consumption and augment rainwater harvesting activities both on-site and off-site, as well as minimise waste generation, maximise reuse, and recycling plus deploy external postconsumer waste as raw material in its units.
The WhatPackaging? and PrintWeek India team was impressed by the operationalising reduce-reuse-recycle model of waste management at the factories and among the employees.
