Over the past few years, the PrintWeek India team has trawled through top notch players and come across the young masters. The reason we have profiled them is because they are entertaining, the work is enduring, the brainpower is a goldmine - and they are “cool”.

This is an industry where 70% of the print businesses are family-owned. In spite of the baggage of feudalism, these individuals dare to be different, and are keen to break the rules.

They are investment bankers, they are software engineers, they are print technologists.

In our view, this is important. It makes them impassioned and approach the print subject from every conceivable angle, some more relevant than the others. Most importantly, it facilitates the need to question everything and bring a fresh new perspective to print.

The other thing is, they are uncompromising about their sleep hours and work ethics. They drive growth. Also, they drive their Skodas and BMWs.

Most importantly, they have a plan!

According to the India Demographic Profile 2014, 40.6% of the country’s population falls between the age of 25-64 years and the median age clocks a young 27 years. Moreover, this demographic dividend is projected to help the GDP of the country add two per cent each year.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) stated in a 2011 report that 25% of the global increase of the working age population of 15-64 years till 2040 is projected to occur in India.

That’s the good news. If the Indian print industry is expected to reap the rewards of this demographic advantage; then our prediction is, we need to look at these Forty Under Forty for a cue.

Furthermore, based on the inputs from some of the members of the Forty Under Forty league, we have created an online forum - PrintWeek India Forum; a Google group to share knowledge and expertise within the industry.

You, too, can be a part of the group by registering here:  https://groups.google.com/d/forum/printweek-india-forum

Also, the entire compilation will soon be available online.
