SILVERPOINT PRESS is the Consumer Magazine Printer of the Year 2010
Silverpoint Press: ideas that ensure better outreach for publishers
Silverpoint Press has powered ahead winning the top position in this quality category award for Consumer Magazine Printer of the Year. Like most growing print houses, Silverpoint operates in a fast-moving environment producing "an impressive and varied range of magazines". The judges hailed the work for titles including Verve, G2, Watch Couture and L’Officiel magazines, with the last mentioned work demonstrating "outstanding finishing techniques" which used red glitter foiling. It was "a pleasure to look at" described a judge. According to Silverpoint, the magazine publishing industry is a honeypot for creative people, leading to brilliant opportunities and ideas for printers to execute. The company uses a battery of Heidelberg sheetfed presses, a Ryobi four-colour press, multi-colour web presses and a full service bindery to ensure its products are consistently of high quality.

PRAGATI OFFSET is the Fine Art Printer of the Year
Pragati Offset: beautiful art created to the music of print
Yet another triumph for the Hyderabad-based Pragati Offset having won this Award last year too. Pragati submitted four samples – Dag Manifestations IV printed for Delhi Art Gallery, Anju Dodiya – Necklace of Echoes, El Anatsui for Jack Shainman Gallery and Amrita Sher-Gil – A portrait in letters. The Amrita Sher-Gil book had 900 pages and over 200 images and according to Pragati, all the colour corrections were carried out in-house. Judges loved El Anatsui’s metallic looking cover. Pragati achieved this using MET PET laminated paper and a variety of metallic inks. Manifestations IV with its multiple gate-folds came in for special praise. "Planning the sections properly to position the gatefold in the right part of the section" was critical for the final product. "A lot of creative razzle-dazzle," said a judge.
