PrintWeek July issue focuses on packaging, sustainability

Keeping up with the magazine’s focus on promoting sustainability, the cover story of the July issue of PrintWeek highlights the work EPL has been doing towards sustainability.

“I want to make EPL the most sustainable packaging company in the world,” Anand Kripalu, managing director and global CEO of EPL, tells Ramu Ramanathan as he discusses EPL’s business, innovation, growth, sustainability and journey ahead. He might be new to packaging, but Kripalu says he’s a sucker for accepting challenges, and will do what it takes.

In the Face-to-Face section, Noel D’Cunha talks to Jean-Pascal Bobst, CEO of Bobst Group, on the sidelines of the Annual Press Conference held at Bobst Competence Centre in Mex on 8 June 2022, about Bobst vision, technology, sustainability, and why packaging is becoming a business choice, though it’s easier said than done.

On 8 June, the Swiss packaging and label machine manufacturer, Bobst, unveiled a raft of new products. “Bobst’s vision of shaping the packaging world means it’s a journey, an evolution,” Jean Pascal Bobst says. Jean Pascal Bobst, Raphael Indermühle, Bodo Junge, Patrick Graber, and Sara Alexander discuss what these new products mean for the packaging world with Noel D’Cunha.

Datta Deshpande, CEO of Pratham Technologies was conferred with the IPAMA Lifetime Achievement Award 2022. In the July issue of PrintWeek, Deshpande shares the secrets to his remarkable manufacturing and business success. 

KG Suresh, joint managing director of Autoprint was also conferred with the IPAMA Lifetime Achievement Award 2022. An MTech from IIT Chennai, Suresh is one of the founder-member of Autoprint. He has been instrumental in designing and manufacturing machinery which are based on customer requirements. In an interview with PrintWeek, Suresh explains why innovation needs to be matched with the customer’s affordability quotient.

In the Leadership section, Noel D’Cunha speaks to Harveer Sahni, the winner of this year’s R Stanton Avery Global Achievement Award. Sahni says he is “exhilarated and overwhelmed” since he was the first Indian ever to get this prestigious award. 

In the Profile section, Janhavi Sisodia charts Vikram Printers’ journey into the packaging industry in its new avatar Ugar Labels. It’s only been two years, but the brand awareness exercise has boosted Ugar’s reputation and has raised its profile. 

In the Economy section, chief economic adviser V Anantha Nageswaran says India is much better placed than some of the advanced countries to handle global headwinds stemming from the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war. Nageswaran was speaking to Chetan Krishnaswamy of Amazon India as part of the Amazon Sambhav Summit.

The BMPA Vision Conclave held in Goa from 5-6 July 2022 saw 82 industry leaders from across India deliberate on the state of the Indian printing industry. You can read all about it in the July issue of PrintWeek.
