PrintWeek September issue focuses on labels

Labelexpo Europe 2023 is in full swing, and to celebrate the return of the premier label exhibition after a gap of four years, thanks to the pandemic, the cover story of the September issue of PrintWeek highlights how label creators are sending a message to the rest of the industry.

The special Labelexpo 2023 coverage includes a guest editorial by Andy Thomas-Emans, strategic director at Tarsus Labels, Packaging and Brand Print Group, 34 pages of Labelexpo Europe 2023 Preview, a profile on 100 years of Gallus and a special report on LMAI conference that took place in July. 

Thomas-Emans writes: “The key technology there is really automation. At Labelexpo, you can expect to see a significant number of highly automated machines with automated pressure settings and automated register control.”

Gallus, the Switzerland-based manufacturer of narrow-web flexo and digital presses was established in 1923 and just turned 100 this year. Even though this is a major milestone, Ferdinand Ruesch has shown that there’s no reason to slow down. In fact, he recently launched the Gallus One (G1) press, a project that was originally conceived back in 1996. PrintWeek and WhatPackaging? magazines caught up with Ferdinand Ruesch, the third generation at Gallus. 

Returning after a gap of four years, the theme of the sixth LMAI Conference, held in Jaipur on 20-22 July, was creativity, innovations and sustainability. The speakers brainstormed about what the ideal process is and who pays for it. The key takeaway was that the industry is ready to embrace sustainable label printing. 

Jaipur Printers recently celebrated 75 years of its existence. On the occasion, Noel D’Cunha and Rahul Kumar find out how installed in September 2022, the HP Indigo 15K HD digital printing press has helped the Jaipur-based commercial printer to offer specialised short-run prints not just in the photo album segment, but also in commercial jobs, including brochures, catalogues, books, promotional material and others.

EdCIL is a public sector undertaking under the administrative control of the Ministry of Education, which offers management and consultancy services in all areas of education and human resource development, both within India and overseas. Since joining the company as chairman and managing director, Kumar has brought vital process improvements and strategic transformations to EdCIL. He details the organisation’s activities in an interview with Dibyajyoti Sarma
