Arconvert (Stall A9)

Art of Luxury labeling catalogue

Arconvert, the manufacturer of self-adhesive papers and films will present its Art of Luxury labeling catalogue bringing together more than 190 designs.

Also available on its exhibition stall will be the Seven Wonders collection of self-adhesive papers. This ambitious project involved some of the most prestigious design studios in Europe, which contributed creative ideas on how these papers can make use of the latest combination printing and decorating technologies.

Arconvert’s Indian partner Srinivas Papers will be stocking a few SKUs for Indian customers.

Arconvert, a part of Fedrigoni Group, has three production facilities around the world, in Italy, Brazil and Spain, serving a variety of industries including the food, textile, cosmetic, medical and electronic sectors.

The company is known for the Manter brand of luxury labeling products that are specifically designed for the wine and spirits market.

Atul Papers (Stall D33)

Acti-V-XB release liner

Atul Papers, Munksjo Italia’s Indian representative, will bring Silco Acti-V-XB, a patented release liner to the show.

The newest offering with extra barrier layer in glassine paper to the Indian market was last shown at Labelexpo Europe in Brussels. According to the company, the release paper is not an inert carrier; rather it plays an active role in the silicone coating process. The product’s enhanced surface treatment provides an extra barrier that improves silicone hold-out, resulting in a brighter stain test of siliconised liner with equal amounts of silicone. Alternatively, the same stain test results can be achieved with a lower silicone coat weight.

A member of the Forest Stewardship Council, Munksjo has patented the technology in Europe, the US and Australia, and is pending patent registration in other countries, worldwide.

Adhesives

HB Fuller’s investment in adhesive manufacturing shows that the company is looking at the Indian market aggressively. It also demonstrates its commitment to bringing global adhesive innovation within reach of local converters in the tape, label and graphics market.

The company now produces the new Swiftmelt 1911 and Lunamelt HL2838 hotmelt PS adhesives in both Europe and India. The Swiftmelt 1911 is capable of delivering adhesion on surfaces and conditions such as glass, metals, wet conditions, and rough surfaces, making it ideal for holographic labels, tyre labels and glass bottle labels.

And for speciality and premium labels and tapes, Lunamelt HL2838 can deliver on surfaces considered difficult such as virgin and recycled corrugated boxes in both low and high temperature conditions.

Polyonics (Stall B3)

Barcode label and tag materials

Polyonics is set to introduce several new barcode label and tag materials. These include materials for ID and tracking applications in the PCB and hot metal industries. The new XF-731 and XF-735 thermal transfer printable polyimide label materials include ultra-durable topcoats designed to resist harsh highly active fluxes used in the PCB industry.

The materials also include liners for die-cutting and ultra-strong pressure-sensitive adhesives that resist high-pressure washes.

Also being introduced are the XF-608 and XF-610 barcode tag materials for tracking hot metals. The XF-608 is a 227µm durable paper laminate that operates continuously at 200 deg C with short term exposures of up to 300 deg C.

The XF-610 is a double-sided 125 µm polyimide tag material rated for an operating temperature of 400 deg C and short exposures of up to 600 deg C.

Cyrel Easy plates

At the show, DuPont will have the India launch of its Cyril Easy flexographic printing plates. The product was launched in 2015 and over 100 customers are reportedly using it.

“Developed specifically for flexible packaging and tag and label, the plates are based on a new polymer technology that DuPont claims can produce higher ink transfer, colour saturation and resolution. Significantly higher solid ink density has been demonstrated in customer testing, without compromising on highlights,” said a DuPont release.

Under development are versions for corrugated, beverage and folding carton markets.

Also, take a look at DuPont’s Izon 3D security film which integrates overt anti-counterfeiting features directly onto product packaging or labeling. 

Ricoh Thermal Media Asia Pacific (Stall F5)

Thermal transfer ribbons

Ricoh Thermal Media Asia Pacific, a wholly owned subsidiary of Ricoh Company, Japan, will showcase new grades of thermal transfer ribbons at Labelexpo India. Introducing its new grade of wax/resin B120BG, Ricoh claims to have better image density, sensitivity and compatibility with a wide range of receiving material.

It will also display new resin TTR B120CG that has higher receiving material adaptability to rough surfaces. B120CG also offers high scratch, chemical and heat resistance. All grades have coating on the back that ensures reliable matching qualities with the thermal head.

SCG Packaging (Stall D26)

Glassine paper

SCG Paper, the largest producer of paper products in Thailand, will make its Labelexpo India debut with the launch of its glassine paper in the Indian market. The joint venture between SCG Packaging and Nippon Paper Industries saw SCG venture into manufacture of glassine papers.

The glassine papers come with smooth surface for optimal silicone coating and transparency suitable for automatic labeling system. The product, SCG claims, also offers high strength and calliper uniformity so it runs better in release liner production line. With production capacity of 60,000 tonnes per annum, the company accounts for the largest supplier in ASEAN.

This Ghaziabad-based company will be present at the show with a range of label stock, self-adhesive paper, film and fabric, release liner, thermal transfer ribbons, holographic foils and lamination tapes.

SMI Coated Products (Stall B19)

Product selector App

SMI is introducing two new tools. With a set of seven questions in the newly introduced user-friendly SMI product selector App, the user is led to the appropriate SMI product that is suitable for the application. Further, the user can straightaway ask for specification sheet, samples or order through the App.

In addition to the product selector industry, related calculators are also present. One calculator is designed to calculate the length of a roll, by feeding the width, height, matrix widths, number of labels. A second calculator gives the running length, square metres as well as wastage due to matrix for a particular job. It also shows the wastage for a job if printed in different ups, thus helping the printer to decide which combination of ups and running metres will have the minimum wastage. SMI has plans to introduce more tools to aid the industry in the near future.

SMI will also launch a new sample set showing different types of filmic labelstock solutions.

Tesa Tapes (Stall J1)

Tesa Softprint Secure

The company will highlight its range of self-adhesive tapes for the label industry, focusing on its latest plate mounting tape development: tesa Softprint Secure. This new product line combines extra strong plate bonding with easy repositioning and demounting properties for maximum productivity. This also comes with Tesa’s new foam hardness – purple (medium density) and green (hard density).

Toyo Ink Arets (Stall J7)

Steraflex LED UV

Toyo Ink Arets says it has dedicated the Steraflex range of UV inks to the label industry to enhance the productivity, richness of graphics and a super flexo performance. The company will launch the Steraflex LED UV-curable flexo ink and also showcase Steraflex UV flexo inks at the show. Manufactured and processed at the Toyo Ink Arets’ plant in Europe, these products are available in both food and non-food categories.

Uflex (Stall B30)

Labeling solutions

At the show, the country’s largest end-to-end fully integrated flexible packaging materials and solution company, Uflex, will showcase unique labelling solutions using foils, Fresnel lens and holographic effects, and track and trace options. Of particular interest would be the company’s labeling solutions with unique features like sterling effect and hidden text with colour changing backgrounds that make the labels stand out. The company’s bespoke labeling solutions rank among the top in terms of quality, offering unmatched brand distinction and value for money. The company's labeling solutions are carefully blended with anti-counterfeiting features making it next to impossible to duplicate them.

UPM Raflatac (Stall C12)

Vanish film

Under the theme Boost Your Brand Performance, UPM Raflatac will highlight its ultra-thin and clear Vanish film, which enables intricate food and beverage label designs while providing an excellent view of the product. The film also uses fewer raw materials than other clear film solutions, making it a more sustainable choice.

Also see a new white label film, PP White FTC 60, which supports quality print results with resistance to water, oil and chemicals. This multipurpose film also features a food-safe topcoat. The topcoat is also less absorbent than its predecessor. So label converters are likely to see less ink consumption with UV flexo while achieving more vivid colours.
