The formal launch of the collator was made at Printpack 2011 held at Chennai. Omprakash H R, general manager of Proteck machinery, said, “Since the launch of the machine we have seen a booming market for the collator in the southern region and have sold around 30 machines in there.
“In the current scenario where the labour problem is an issue, this machine would be a handy replacement. Being a low investment machine it would soon be placed in every single press sooner or later,” said Omprakash.

The automatic machine comprises of six racks to carry folded signatures. “With the press of a button, the suction pumps pick up signatures and collates them. “The delivery is also capable of taking folded sheets and collating it according to the signatures. The machine can handle a wide range of paper stocks with multiple collating stands as addons. “This machine has practically eliminated the production planning at many presses,” said Omprakash.

Apart from the air-suction collator, the company is also displaying a full cutting line with joggers and pile lifters and a programmable perfect binding machine. The full cutting line machine is a new concept designed by Proteck which again helps in reducing manual work.
