Publisher programme by German Book Office

Publishers training programme is back, a two days training programme for young professionals in the publishing world, organised by German Book Office (GBO), New Delhi. The training will be held from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm on 4 December and 5 December, 2015 at Lecture Room 1, India International Centre (Annexe), Lodi Estate, New Delhi. The programme will provide first-hand information about digital publishing.

The programme is aimed at the working professionals in the industry and who wish to acquire and expertise in new techniques in publishing. 
 
During the training programme, there will also be information sharing session on the new developments in the international market. The important topics will be multi-platform strategy and right management for cross media.
 
Day One
Session 1
From idea to ink-commissioning and pitching in genre specific world. The speakers of the session will be Karthika VK of Harper Collins India and Arpita Das from Authors UpFront.
 
The speakers will be talking about the formulation of a book idea and how to present it before the acquisitions committee, make the book ideas come to life and then make it to the shelf. The basic trick and tip, finding genre gap in the market and preparing for a potential market-ready book idea.
 
Session 2
Building from the spine upwards - Book design workshop. The speakers of the session will be Stefanie Schelleis of Carl Hanser Verlag GmbH and Co. KG, Germany and Sunandini Banerjee of Seagull Books.
 
The session will be about a book design, supposed to subconsciously guide the readers, and also engage them. The workshop will tackle publication design practices with instructional book design and trends as the focus. Uta Schneider will guide on how to integrate text, imagery and illustration with the eventual goal of building the architecture of a book starting with the font, page, palette.
 
 
Day Two
Session 1
The trading rights and negotiating copyrights. The speakers will be Dahlia Sen Oberoi from Sen-Oberoi, Priya Kapoor of Roli Books, and Kapil Kapoor of Roli Books/CMYK Bookstores.

The session will be about the practical guide to right selling, dealing with its nuances and complexities.

Session 2
Scoring on some viral charm - Publicising book effectively. The concluding session will be about book publicity; and the criticality of launching a book and building its visibility in the marketplace.
