Publishing Next conference scheduled for 20-22 September 2018
The eight edition of the Publishing Next conference, the annual event that brings together publishing, printing and allied professionals, to discuss the trends and business practices that dominate the sector, will be held from 20 to 22 September 2018, in Panaji, Goa.

The conference, the only of its kind in South Asia, provides professionals and freelancers engaged with the publishing and printing sectors, a platform to access market intelligence, for knowledge creation and exchange of ideas. Through a combination of masterclasses, workshops, panel discussions and specially-crafted networking sessions, there is deliberation upon the challenges and opportunities of new publishing and printing technologies and business models.
Organised by CinnamonTeal Publishing, a Margao, Goa-based publishing house that provides publishing services to authors and publishers, the conference is aimed at providing a platform for publishing professionals to meet and discuss the issues that they are most concerned with. With an eye on the future and the new business practices and technologies that publishing professionals can hope to encounter, the conference also focuses on current issues, especially with reference to Indian language publishing.
Meanwhile, entries have been invited for the fifth edition of the Publishing Next Industry Awards. Instituted in 2014, these awards seek to ‘recognise the innovation and leadership of publishing professionals and others in the book trade in India’.
The winners will be announced during the Publishing Next conference in September.
This year, the awards have introduced a new category, ‘Illustrator of the Year’. Thus, Publishing Next Industry Awards 2018 will be presented in the twelve categories.
These include Book of the Year (English); Book of the Year (Indian Languages); Children’s Book of the Year (English); Children’s Book of the Year (Indian Languages); Illustrated Book of the Year (Coffee Table Books); Book Cover of the Year (English); Book Cover of the Year; Book Illustrator of the Year; Editor of the Year; Bookstore of the Year; Publisher of the Year (English, Indian Languages, General); Publisher of the Year (English, Indian Languages, Children’s Literature).
The last date of submitting applications is 15 May 2018.
The shortlist will be announced on 15 August 2018.
