Publishing Next lines up series of events on 15-17 September

Established in 2011, Publishing Next, the industry conference on issues of concern to the book publishing industry, has become an integral part of Goa’s cultural landscape. This is about the change this year, as the event has been scheduled to be held in Kochi, Kerala on 15-17 September 2016.

The seventh edition of the event, which maintains a broad perspective and looks out for directions in the future of book publishing, and the way those books are ultimately ‘consumed’ by the reader, will be held at Bogatty Palace and Island Resort, Kochi, Kerala.

There is more on offer at Kochi than a regular Publishing Next event. This year, the masterclasses are designed to introduce various facets of publishing to the uninitiated or to those who are simply looking to reacquaint themselves with the intricacies of publishing. There will also be a session for authors who would like to know how to proceed after they have completed their manuscripts.

This year, the conference has collaborated with MyKitaab.com for live streaming of its sessions. Supported by Kerala Tourism and the Government of Kerala, companies such as Sage India, Spring Time Software, the London Book Fair, Balani Infotech, Rajkamal Prakashan.

“In addition, the Publishing Next Industry Awards will be presented during the networking dinner on day two. Sessions have been planned keeping in mind the concerns of publishers, editors, translators and others within the publishing industry,” said Leonard J Fernandes, co-founder and trustee, Publishing Next.

What’s more, the event has lined up a host of speakers, including Vikas Gupta, MD, Wiley India; Sesh Seshadri, CEO, Lonely Planet India; Ranjan Kaul, publishing consultant; Vidya Rao, noted Singer, author and consulting editor; Dr. Ganesh Devy, founder director of the Bhasha Research and publication Centre, Vadodara; Sriram Subramanya, founder, Integra Software; Minakshi Thakur, publisher – Hindi, HarperCollins Publishers India; Ankit Pahwa, vendor manager, India at Rakuten Kobo; Ravi Singh, publishing director, Speaking Tiger; Shafi Shauq, poet, writer, linguist and critic, and Ritu Menon, founder and publisher, Women Unlimited.
