According to Prashant Khomne, the director of Global5Technologies who has been instrumental in the driving the HP Latex drive said: "Pune has what it takes to be the top large-format printing hub."
He added: "The proximity to Mumbai, the improved infrastructure, lower manpower cost and so on, are reasons why Pune's printing industry has grown by 100 per cent, especially in the last two years".
Sudhir Phadke, director of Suan Digital Images who added a latex kit said: "The growth of digital printing, especially wide format, has been due to the rise of the industrial sector over the past seven-eight years." He added: "Cost is a big factor in bringing business to Pune. "Our prices are lower than other parts due to lower cost of setting up infrastructure and manpower."
The top print service providers in Pune boast of a multiple corporate base ranging from Kirloskar Industries, Cummins, Mercedes Benz and Wipro and so on.
Khomne stated: "The local print industry is unorganised. It is believed that there are 3,000 printers in Pune and around Pune who deploy low-cost, environmentally hazardous solvent printers. The HP Latex machine is looking to change the profile with its a green friendly outlook. They are servicing the large corporate base for indoor and outdoor print needs."
With the introduction of the five feet latex machine by HP this eco friendly technology has become affordable. Khomne believes this will boost the market in Rest of Maharashtra and Goa.
