The trust, every year, awards scholarship to 10 students and facilitates a print personality in the memory of Late VG Joshi, the owner of Chitrashala Printing Press, who passed away on 17 March 1944.

Addressing the printing technology students, Rao spoke about the potential of the printing industry and urged students to explore career opportunities in print and encouraged students to become entrepreneurs.

Rao also inaugurated the ink testing laboratory at the institute. Speaking to PrintWeek India, Rao said, “Setting up an ink testing lab at a printing school is an unique thing. It enables students to understand different parameters of ink that influence the print quality. There are different types of testing equipment to make the different assessment of ink. I was impressed with the instrument to measure ink mottling.”

“The lab is fully equipped with all the necessary equipment for students’ practicals and research on ink. The lab is funded by USA-based Innova Solutions,” said Abhinay Mahajan, head of department for printing at PVG in conversation with PrintWeek India.

The lab is equipped with Holmarc contact angle tester to measure surface contact angle of the substrate, Brookfield viscometer, image analyser, mottle tester, ink mixer, offset proofer, oven and ink stirrer among others.
