Although a small gesture, such friendly matches are intended to build an off-the-office relationship in the industry, which is commendable. Shiv Bhatnagar of Rave Scan led his team to victory wrapping up the opponents at 96 runs, after setting a target of 159 runs in the 20 over match.

Heidelberg India, which won the toss, opted to field first hoping to strategize its batting order according to the target. Although, Rave India lost an early wicket, the partnership between Mohan Singh Sandhu a.k.a Monu and Amit Bhalla provided a sturdy flow of runs until the slog overs.

On the contrary, Heidelberg India team’s opening line-up seemed troubled by the seamers of Rave. Wickets kept falling at regular interval with Bhalla once again taking the task to his hand and picking up quick wickets for the team. By drinks, Heidelberg team had lost the hope of clinching the match and settled for playing for honour.

Bhalla was selected as the Best Bowler and Man of the Match for his stupendous performance, while Sandhu was awarded for his contribution with the bat as Best Batsman of the Day.

Rakesh Bhatnagar, director, Rave Scan said, “Our industry is usually considered pretty unglamorous by a lot of people. Small events such as this not only show the sporty side of our industry but also help us in creating a small ripple. Who knows, we might also end up finding a good corporate cricketing team via such matches.”

Interestingly, 2012 has been crowned as the Indo-German year by the Government of India. “When we were planning for such an initiative, it was Heidelberg, who informed us that a match between the two companies would make perfect sense since it was the Indo-German year,” Bhatnagar added.

Later, he added that post the win, Rave India is planning a Media versus Printers match as well.
