It’s been a trade show where print community congregate to see innovations and trends, has provided hands-on experience of the printing and media industry, and has made visions come to life and turns investments into real products.

The next edition, Drupa 2016, after a strategic realignment was relaunched in the middle of Interpack 2014 show, one of the largest trade show of the packaging industry, with a reviewed logo and a slogan – touch the future. Drupa 2016, the organisers claim, will focus on the industry’s innovative strength and establish a platform for future technologies.

“During more than sixty years, the Drupa has been tried and tested – and has never failed to impress. And the Drupa 2016 will be no different,” Dornscheidt said. He continued, "The secret of this event’s success can be summed up in three points: trend spotting, active endorsement and tailored trade show concepts,” said Werner Matthias Dornscheidt, president and CEO Messe Düsseldorf, who summed up the Drupa’s unique selling point at his press conference on 12 May, 2014.

There are views that while the printing industry is undergoing structural changes and far-reaching consolidation processes, there are new technologies such as functional printing, printed electronics and 3D printing, which have significantly increased their market share, provide major opportunities and potential for growth. The same applies to applications and solutions in the area of digital printing, package and label printing as well as to the industrial production segment.

Dornscheidt emphasised, ““It is precisely on these areas that the Drupa’s structural realignment and repositioning measures are focused, highlighting the industry’s innovative strength.”

Drupa’s 2016 edition will focus on print and cross-media solution. It promises to present technical processes related to areas of printing and cross-media through range of solution oriented technologies and application as well as innovative business ideas or best practices examples.
