Ricoh India aims for Rs 1,000-cr business in FY2013

Ricoh India on 26 July announced its aggressive expansion plans in a press conference held in Delhi, and added two new presses and one upgraded variant of Ricoh Pro C901/901s press into the production printing portfolio.

The two new launches, Ricoh Pro C5100S/5110S, Ricoh MP CW 2200SP, cover two different sub-segments of the print production business of the company.  The Ricoh Pro C5100 is a light production series range focused at the SME/SMB segment. The series offers two models with a maximum print speed of 65 and 80 A4 pages per minute, with the duty cycle of three lakh A4 pages per month. The machine has a print resolution of 1200x4800dpi.

Ricoh MP CW 2200SP is a 36inch colour printer aimed at the architectural, engineering and construction segment. However, the highlight of the event was the introduction of Ricoh Pro C901/901s Graphic Arts + edition, which is a variant of its exhisting Pro C901 series. The mid-size cut-sheet colour production press that prints at 90 A4 pages per minute with 1200x1200dpi resolution on up to 300gsm media in duplex mode.

Compared to its predecessor, Graphics Arts+ digital presses include a HyperRIP that improves performance by processing multiple job pages simultaneously. These presses also feature Xobjects caching to enable PDF files that include Xobjects to print at speeds previously associated only with VDP jobs. They also offer inline job editing and Job Preset Quick Select. Job Preset Quick Select is a productivity technique that applies predefined settings used in virtual printers and hot folders to jobs in the job list.

Speaking at the launch, Tetsuya Takano, managing director and chief executive officer, Ricoh India said, “The launch of Ricoh Pro C 901/901S GA+, Ricoh Pro C5100S/ 5110S series is demonstrative of Ricoh’s policy of offering excellent products that add value to our customer`s workplace.”

Manoj Kumar, senior vice president and CFO of Ricoh India said, “We see huge growth potential in these segments. We feel that this is the right time for us to invest in these segments and expand our presence by introducing state of the art products like these. Additionally, we are also launching Colour Gel Jet Engineering Plan printer, which has some features to improve the work efficiency in the AEC and GIS segments.  I am confident that this product expansion will help Ricoh garner a considerable market share of this segment.”

Giving a lowdown of Ricoh India’s performance of last three years, Kumar said that Ricoh India aims to touch a Rs 1000-cr turnover by the end of fiscal 2013. “Ricoh India’s aim is to be part of the Rs 1000-cr company club. For this we have been stressing upon achieving a 47% growth year on year. Our new business units (also includes production printing division) have had a cumulative growth in 20% in FY11, which grew to 39% in FY12.” The company also stated that the production printing segment targetsto achieve 20% of this Rs 1000-cr revenue; which by amounts to Rs 200cr.

Avijit Mukherjee, COO production printer business unit shared that last year Ricoh installed around 64 colour and 45 mono-colour production presses in India. During his presentation, Mukherjee also pointed out that in March 2013, the company completed 100 installations of both mono and colour production presses. Later in the year, Ricoh also plans to launch water-based wide-format printers in India focusing on the signage market.
