Production printer has been one of the key growth drivers and with the launch of these production printers we expect this category to grow over 30% every year.”

The Pro L4160 is Ricoh’s entry into wide-format graphics colour printing. The seven-colour device can print CMYK, orange, green and white aqueous latex inks. It is capable of printing on wide substrates such as PVC, tarpaulin, synthetic paper, coated paper, non-coated paper and textile.

The new Ricoh kit series prints at a speed of up to 90ppm, and can print on an extensive range of media including new textured media from 53gsm to 360gsm. Applications include light packaging, mock-up printing, transactional, books, brochures and business cards.

According to Avijit Mukherjee, COO, PP-BU for Ricoh India, a new feature, PXPDQ in the machine reduces the thickness of the toner deposition on the substrate. “The toner is spread evenly giving a higher yield per bottle of toner used.” The machine is targeted at graphic arts businesses, digital service providers, and in-plant set-ups.

The third announcement, the life time warranty plan will be offered in two packs – Ricoh power pack and Ricoh service pack. Under the Ricoh power pack, the customer will a click charge of less than Rs 0.50 for an A4 print excluding toner. The Ricoh service pack offer customers the option to enter into an AMC for one, three or five years at specified costs for unlimited usage.

Mukherjee said that the Ricoh power pack is aimed at jobbers who are facing problems with reconditioned machines, as well as in-plant and offset only printers. “The lesser the coverage, the lesser is the toner usage, which results in saving.” He added, “The offset printers are used to this kind of model of buying inks and consumables. With this model, they can build their business while increasing print volumes.”
