Abhishek Singh, one of the owners of Samrat Offset, said, “Our production capacity was overbooked and we found Ryobi to be the right machine for us. Its compact size, low consumption of electricity and fast turnaround time are few of the reasons why we chose the Ryobi 920. The additional benefit of the press is that now our production process can breathe and we can increase our list of customers. We talked to existing users of the press before making the final decision.”
Samrat offset, a family business, is run by Veer Pal Singh, Reena Singh, Abhishek Singh and Ashwini Singh. The company deals in commercial, book, wide-format and calendar printing, as well as packaging jobs. “Our printing facility is capable enough to meet any kind of printing demand. We do not want to remain stagnant in just one segment,” Singh added.
He said the trend now is print enhancement with multi-colour printing. “There has also been a rise in coating jobs. With this press, we can now print eight-page jobs,” he said.
Singh does not believe that there is any threat to the printing industry though he said finding skilled manpower can be a problem sometimes. This, however, he said, has not been a problem for Samrat as the company offers training for its staff. “Also, there are many educational programmes for the operators these days,” he said.
Samrat has more than 100 employees. Right now, the company is producing magazines and textbooks on the new Ryobi 920.
Vinay Kaushal, director, Provin Technos, the Indian representative of the Japanese press manufacturer, said, “We are getting good response from the market because our machines save on real estate, which is a huge cost nowadays along with the lower operational cost (savings on plate and power). We have booked 29 printing presses so far in this financial year with 10 shipments completed (six installed, four are in transit).”
