Six years later, Sanjeev Sondhi of Zircon Technologies said the investment has worked well for the company. “We have used Esko’s solutions for several years now and have greatly benefited from it. I can say that Esko has helped us grow and produce quality labels. We are using Esko’s automation systems, its entire pre-press system, its CDI Spark 4835 and Esko’s WebCenter. The technical support that we receive is great and we feel that Esko is a part of us,” said Sondhi.
One of the fastest growing label and packaging printers in India, Zircon Technologies has grown quickly and has achieved considerable technical excellence since its inception in 2006.
In the last 10 years, Zircon has showcased amazing strength for scalability. It already has two plants in Dehradun with a combined area of 60,000 sq/ft with another new plant coming up on an adjacent plot of land. Besides Dehradun, Zircon also has a plant in Chennai, which is a part of its extensive pan-India plans that include carton printing and converting.
Over the last five years, Zircon has had a CAGR of 35-40%.
“We are always striving to do the best for our customers and it is the expertise of having quality in-house pre-press and plate-making setup that has helped us excel. That’s how we meet the specifications laid down by our customers. We do not have to rely on external vendors and it is a big relief in terms of time and energy spent,” Sondhi added.
At Zircon, HD Flexo screening is essential in its focus on high quality and unique security label production. “We were one of the earliest companies to achieve HD Flexo certification in India,” Sondhi said.
Recently, Zircon has installed its third Omet, a ten-colour printing press with 14.5 inch width – Omet Xflex X4. Another new investment, Mark Andy P7, a 17-inch press which can print a twelve colour job, is likely to arrive in few days time.
Besides narrow-web, the company has invested in screen printing setup too. In finishing, the first generation print firm has installed a 17-inch Rotofelx VLI slitter rewinder.
Zircon continues to look out for new technologies. Talking to PrintWeek India, Sondhi said he might be dropping by at Drupa for a few days, but he was not sure. He was, however, certain that he would be attending Labelexpo America.
