In the span of two months, two Autoprint Colt Model sheetfed and one Konica Minolta Bizhub C452 presses have been installed at its 1800 sq/ft printing facility.

Stating the future belongs to the digital printing technologies, Pankaj Sethi, owner, Sethi Art Printers said, “The need to buy a digital press emerged after we realised that there were large number of short-run colour four-jobs in the market that we could honour. Thus, we explored a series of machines during Pamex, and finally opted for Bizhub C452. This machine offers flexible finishing options including 2/3-hole punch, multi-position stapling, and saddle-stitched booklet making.”

The KM press, ordered only a week ago is almost up and running. “We bought the Autoprint sheetfed presses because we were highly impressed with the quality it rendered,” said Sethi.

SAP began its operations in December 1988 with a letterpress. In 1997, the company bought its first 18x25-inch offset press from Prakash Offset. “Since, we had started to get higher volumes we opted for another press from Prakash Offset the following year.” Over the years, the company has been printing university related materials and brochures in its facility. It also has a number of indigenous post press equipment.

Talking about the print market in Jammu he said, “The market here is more about price than quality. The prime reason for this is the low volumes of job one has access to. Printers here have smaller facilities because unlike Delhi or Ahmedabad, there is lack of industrial hub in the area.” Lauding the Jammu Printers Association, Sethi also said, “Efforts are being made by the association to end the throat-slitting price war among the printers. This has been a major concern for the entire industry and has been affecting us.”
